Surprise! After a really long hiatus, it’s Rock Star Spotlight day here again at The House That Stamps Built. Over the years this little game of 20 questions has proved to be a fun way to get to know the artists behind the cards we’ve been sharing. So over the next few weeks we’ll be mixing things up a little and taking a break now and then from a few of our usual posts.
Today we’re shining the spotlight on our newest Rock Star, Heather Mills.

1. Tell us a little about your family.
My husband and I have been married for 16 years (we got married on one of the hottest days on record in New Hampshire and that is what everyone remembers about the wedding!) We have three girls ages 9 and 6 (the six year-olds are twins!). We have an 8-year-old black lab and three cats (one is 16, one is 7, and one is 1) plus 2 roosters and about 20 hens. We live in Southern Rhode Island in the house that my husband’s grandfather built when he was first married. My in-laws and grandparent in-laws live less than a quarter mile from our house so family time is very important around here.
2. How did you get into stamping?
One of my friends used to be a Stamping-Up demonstrator and invited me to a party, probably 15 years ago. I stamped on-and-off until just after my first daughter was born when I started to do it a bit more and then I really got into stamping and card-making after my twins were born. Now, I never stop. : )
3. What is your favorite technique?
I’m not sure I really have one. Unless die cutting counts as a technique. I use that on almost every card I make. Other than that, I like to try all sorts of techniques.
4. What is your favorite tool?
Dies and my die cutting machine! Could not live without them!
5. What are your favorite embellishments?
Ribbon and pearls/rhinestones
6. What is your favorite coloring method?
Markers, though my first love will probably always be crayons–they just don’t really work so well for coloring smaller stamped images.
7. What is your favorite color combo?
It used to be pink and green, hands down, now, I’m not so sure. I’ll use pretty much any color mixed with white.
8. If you had to describe your stamping style with 3 words, what would they be?
Classic, classic and classic? Just kidding. Classic, simple (but not necessarily CAS) and uncluttered.
9. Do you always send the cards you create?
I usually create cards for a specific reason such as birthday, etc, but I am starting to accumulate a small collection or cards that are waiting for the right occasion. So, yes, and no.
10. For which occasion or holiday do you create the most cards?
Christmas, for sure!
11. What is your favorite stamping magazine?
I don’t read any. I’m too cheap to buy any.
12. What are your favorite Repeat Impressions’ designs?
No doubt about it: “Butterfly (lg)!! And my second favorite would probably be “Sheet Music” I could use those two on every card, ever!
13. What are your other interests besides stamping?
My second love is making jewelry; I love wire work and I always say that I’m going to learn how to solder . . . sometime. I also learned how to crochet last summer and am slightly addicted. I do a little bit of sewing, but I’m not very good at it. And I LOVE to read.
14. Name your favorite food and one food you can’t stand.
Fav food=pizza (pepperoni or greek with broccoli) and I can’t stand celery or melons.
15. What is your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate!! (And playing candy crush on my ipad)
16. Do you have any pet peeves?
Repetition and noise
17. Tell us one random thing people may not know about you.
I have been in all but 5 of the states in the US (only have to go to Alaska, Hawaii, California, Oregon and Washington), plus Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico. I’ve got North America covered.
18. Name 3 things on your “bucket list”.
Travel to Europe, visit all the states I haven’t been to yet, and attend a Duke Unisverity Basketball game, at Duke.
19. If you were going to be stuck on a deserted island, which 5 books, 5 movies, 5 people and 5 foods would you take along?
Books: my Bible and the Game Of Thrones series (I think there might be 5 of them written right now, so can I take 6 books?)
Movies: Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolee), Far And Away (Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman); Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) and Princess Bride
People: My husband (obviously!) and I guess my three kids since I would miss them. I don’t have a 5th because if I took one, than how could I leave someone else out so I’ll take my 6th book instead
Foods: pizza, chocolate, turkey, stuffing and gravy
20. If you have to choose a movie title for your life story, what would that be?
How did I get here?
